CUSTOM WEBSITES

Websites That Rank as Good as They Look

I design and hand-code every site from scratch — no templates, no page builders. SEO architecture, conversion optimization, and performance baked in from line one.

Your Website Is Either Helping You Rank — or Holding You Back

Most small business websites are built by designers who don't understand SEO. The result is a site that looks decent but is invisible to Google. I build sites where SEO is the architectural blueprint — not an afterthought.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Every Build Is Engineered for Rankings and Conversions

Every website project starts with your business goals and ends with a site built to rank, convert, and grow with you.

Custom Design & Development

Hand-coded from scratch with clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No bloated templates or page builders — every element is purpose-built for your brand with conversion best practices baked in.

SEO-First Architecture

URL structure, page hierarchy, internal linking, and content siloing planned from keyword research before a line of code is written. Integrates directly with my SEO services.

Platform Migrations

Full migration from Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress — redirect maps, content preservation, meta data transfer, and post-launch monitoring. Most clients see improved rankings within 60 days.

Mobile-First Design

Built for the 60%+ of users on mobile devices. Google uses mobile-first indexing — so every site starts as a fast, thumb-friendly mobile experience that also looks great on desktop.

Built for Speed

Green Core Web Vitals scores by default. Optimized images, minimal JS, efficient CSS, proper caching — no bloated frameworks or unnecessary third-party scripts slowing you down.

Conversion Optimization

Strategic CTAs, friction-reducing forms, trust signals, and clear value propositions. Every page is designed with a conversion goal. Continues with ongoing support.

HOW IT WORKS

My Website Build Process

Every website project follows a structured five-phase process. This keeps the project on schedule, eliminates surprises, and ensures the final product is exactly what your business needs to rank and convert.

1
Discovery & Strategy

We start with a deep dive into your business — who your customers are, how they search, what your competitors' sites look like, and what your current site is missing. I review your existing analytics, audit your current rankings, and identify the key pages and keywords your new site needs to target. This phase produces a clear project brief that guides every decision downstream. No guesswork, no "we'll figure it out as we go."

2
Site Architecture & SEO Planning

Based on the discovery findings, I map out the complete site structure — every page, every URL, and the internal linking strategy that connects them. Keywords are assigned to individual pages. The navigation hierarchy is planned for both users and search engines. If this is a migration, I create the full redirect map at this stage. You'll see and approve the complete blueprint before any design work begins.

3
Design & Development

With the architecture locked in, I design and build the site. Every page is hand-coded — not assembled from templates — with SEO built into every element: semantic HTML, structured data markup, optimized heading hierarchy, fast-loading images, and clean internal links. You'll review the design at key milestones and provide feedback before I move forward. The result is a site that's fast, accessible, and optimized from the ground up.

4
QA, Content & Launch

Before launch, I run a comprehensive QA process: testing across browsers and devices, verifying all links work, confirming meta data and schema markup are in place, and running speed tests to ensure Core Web Vitals are green. Content is finalized and populated. If this is a migration, I implement all redirects and verify them. On launch day, I submit the new sitemap to Google Search Console and monitor indexation in real time to catch any issues immediately.

5
Post-Launch Optimization

A website launch isn't the finish line — it's the starting line. In the weeks following launch, I closely monitor rankings, traffic, crawl errors, and user behavior. I fix any issues that surface, adjust pages based on early performance data, and ensure Google is indexing the new site correctly. For clients who want ongoing support, this transitions into a monthly SEO retainer where we continuously improve the site's performance. See my pricing page for details.

WHY IT MATTERS

Custom Code vs. Template Platforms

Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress page builders get you online fast — but "easy" comes with tradeoffs that hurt your rankings and conversion rates.

Custom-Built

  • Lean, minimal code — only what your site needs
  • Full control over URLs, schema, canonicals, linking
  • Unique design that reflects your brand
  • Zero plugin dependencies or vulnerabilities
  • Sub-second load times, green Core Web Vitals
  • Clean foundation that scales with your business

Template Platforms

  • Hundreds of KB of unused CSS & JavaScript
  • Restricted URL structures and SEO controls
  • Generic design shared with thousands of sites
  • Dozens of plugins — each a security & speed risk
  • Slow load times that tank Core Web Vitals
  • Harder to migrate the longer you wait

FAQ

Website & Migration Questions

I do both — and that's the advantage. Every website I build is designed and developed with SEO baked into the foundation, from site architecture and URL structure to page speed and mobile responsiveness. Unlike agencies where the designer and the SEO person never talk, I handle the full stack.

That means your site launches optimized from day one, rather than needing a separate SEO overhaul after the fact. Design decisions are made with search intent in mind. Content is written for both users and search engines. Technical performance is a first-class priority, not a post-launch afterthought. If you also want ongoing SEO after launch, that flows naturally into my monthly SEO retainer.

I build custom websites using clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no heavy CMS platforms that bloat your site and slow it down. This gives you maximum control over performance, SEO, and design. Your site loads in milliseconds instead of seconds, and every line of code serves a purpose.

I also handle migrations from Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, and other platforms to custom-built sites. If your business requires a CMS for frequent content updates (like a blog or product catalog), I can implement a lightweight headless solution that maintains speed and SEO performance without the overhead of a traditional CMS.

Not if the migration is handled properly — and that's exactly why you want an SEO professional managing the process, not just a web developer. The number one cause of rankings loss during migration is broken redirects and changed URLs without proper mapping.

I create a comprehensive redirect map before touching anything, preserve all URL structures where possible, maintain existing meta data and content, and monitor Search Console closely post-launch. Most migrations I handle see rankings recover within 2-4 weeks, and many clients see improved rankings within 60 days because the new site is faster, cleaner, and better optimized than what it replaced.

Most custom website builds take 4-8 weeks from discovery to launch, depending on the size and complexity of the site. A straightforward 5-10 page service business site can typically be completed in 4-5 weeks. Larger sites with 20+ pages, complex functionality, or e-commerce features may take 8-12 weeks.

The timeline also depends on how quickly you can provide content, feedback, and approvals at each milestone. I'll give you a specific, realistic timeline during the discovery phase based on your project scope. Rush timelines are possible for an additional fee.
